5) 2018 – Tech Forum Pages

The screenshots on these pages are DIFFERENT, the oldwebhost wiped out my original forum design and customizations.

These screenshots will just have the File Structure at least. I’ve converted some of the useful forum topics or responses into blog posts. Other items are just old CW Code snippets (that the oldwebhost wiped out when they updated and overwrote the forum – so a lot were destroyed). There also is no “easy way” to migrate a forum from one webhost to another, and also because I know the oldwebhost got “compromised” (clickjacking their customers website’s links to route to their sales page is horrible disservice).

I got reminded of my old Domain Name Registrar (who actually was the oldwebhost as well)… the person I spoke with said, “Hey, CLG is getting so much traffic, your Domain Name Registration will be changing.” Back then, it was something like 45 bucks total per year, or something close… then I said, “Really?” And I asked, “How much will that new fee be?” and the guy said “$1,000.00 per year”.

Hmmm….

So I said, “I’ll pray about it.”

Looked for ANOTHER Domain Name Registrar and SWITCHED. All 25+ domains. Around the same ballpark figure, 45 bucks per year for each domain.

That’s why I always advise to NEVER AGAIN get Domain Name Registration with the SAME Webhost Company – that way the Admin has options when webhosts pull some type of website hostaging that way when your website gains traction in terms of website traffic.

So the Tech Forum, some of which posts were supposed to be private in the Original Theme, the oldwebhost changed the Forum Theme to another one, I guess when they were sloppily running website cloning and moving from one server to another. It also opened the “Members” list which luckily, I have closed and secured and made “anonymous”. Because all forum members really need to login is the username and password. You can easily text them their new passwords.
