One thought on “What should Pastors or Preachers or Bible Teachers Do?

  1. “Serve God Willingly”

“5 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, 2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; 3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” – 1 Peter 5:1-5 (NASB), Serve God Willingly – (1 Peter 5:1-14)

    “Preach the Word”

1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach The Word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” – 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NASB), Preach the Word – (2 Timothy 4:1-8)

    And

“28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.'”Acts 20:28 (NASB), Farewell to Ephesus – (Acts 20: 17-38)

If your pastor or priest or church leader is NOT doing this, you’re in the wrong church and following the teaching of another god. (small g).   You’re following a good “speaker” or “entertainer” or “businessman”.

“Not Selling ANYTHING (any merchandise) to his congregation.”

If they are selling something to you, they SHOULD NOT be selling anything.  (They should decide what to be, a pastor or preacher or teacher or a businessman).  They should KNOW BETTER, especially if they studied the bible AND went to seminary.  Here’s what Jesus did and said:

    15 Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves;

16 and He would not permit anyone to carry merchandise through the temple.

17 And He began to teach and say to them,

“Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a robbers’ den.” Mark 11: 15-17, Jesus Drives Money Changers from the Temple – (Mark 11:15-26)

Who supported Jesus and His Disciples in their Ministry?

“1 Soon afterwards, He began going around from one city and village to another, proclaiming and preaching the kingdom of God. The twelve were with Him,

2 and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,

3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means.Luke 8:1-3 (NASB), Ministering Women – (Luke 8:1-3)

NOTE THIS…. Do the contributions – “contributing to their support out of their private means” – come from Jesus’  “audience”?

Modern day false “preachers” are a combination of the scribes and pharisees that Jesus talked about that “taught and preached” but did not practice what they preached.

“43 Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the chief seats in the synagogues and the respectful greetings in the market places.

44 Woe to you! For you are like concealed tombs, and the people who walk over them are unaware of it.”Luke 11:43-44 (NASB)

And stumbling blocks, that Jesus talked about here:

3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

    5 And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me;

6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.Matthew 18:3-6 (NASB), Rank in the Kingdom – (Matthew 18:1-6)

There are those (a whole lot of us) who seek God and know about Him, but sadly get victimized by these false teachers and they think that THAT is the way Christianity is.  It’s not.

Read about Christ in the Bible.

When you read the bible yourself, you should pray to be led to the specific scriptures to give you the answers you seek.  You can look up the above referenced bible verses yourself as well.

If you see these “signs and warnings” apply to the preacher, or priest or tele-evangelist you follow, a final scripture for you to read:

“Now in a like exchange—I speak as to children—open wide to us also.  Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.“Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord. “And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you. And I will be a Father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty.” – 2 Corinthians 6:13-18 (NASB), Their Ministry Commended – (2 Corinthians 6:1-18)

A lot of lonely people search the internet too for friendship or fellowship.  A whole lot “fall into the temptation” of following a “social gospel type” of group.

“Customizable preaching” geared towards a generation who “want their ears tickled.”

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickledthey will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” – 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NASB)Preach the Word – (2 Timothy 4:1-8)

    And

37 But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him.

38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke:

“Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

39 For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again,

40 He has blinded their eyes and He hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and be converted and I heal them.” John 12:37-40 (NASB), Jesus Foretells His Death – (John 12:27-50)

    And

    42 Jesus said to them,

“If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me.

43 Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word.

44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your fatherHe was a murderer from the beginningand does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

45 But because I speak the truthyou do not believe Me.

46 Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?

47 He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.”John 8:42-47 (NASB), The Truth Will Make You Free – (John 8:31-59)

    And

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

11 “I am the good shepherdthe good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.

12 He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.

13 He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me,

15 even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father;and I lay down My life for the sheep.”John 10:10-15 (NASB), Parable of the Good Shepherd – (John 10:1-21)

So in your search for the TRUTH – go open your Bible and look for the scriptures above as well.  Faith comes by hearing.  Study God’s Words.  Listen to what Jesus Himself taught.

Pastors or Preachers or Bible Teachers should NOT be wolves, and victimize the “sheep” of this world who are looking for some real shepherding.

Reading through the bible verses here myself, I felt the “freedom” that Our Lord Jesus promises to those who believe Him, and His Word.  THE LIGHT in the DARKNESS.   His true followers should share His TRUTH.  So more can know about Him and Believe in Him and Follow Him – Jesus Christ.

    42 Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue;

43 for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.

44 And Jesus cried out and said,

“He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me.

45 He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.

46 I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

47 If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

49 For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.

50 I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”John 12:42-50 (NASB), Jesus Foretells His Death – (John 12:27-50)
