Widows

“You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall not afflict any widow or orphan. If you afflict him at all, and if he does cry out to Me, I will surely hear his cry; and My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.” – Exodus 22:21-24 (NASB)

    21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

    22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

    23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

    24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. “ – Laws About Social Justice – (Exodus 22:16-31) KJV

    It is a pity how people who oppress foreigners, or orphans, or widows, or the fatherless, do not know that there is THE GOD of Justice who protects and cares for those who can depend on no one else but God.

    If you are a “foreigner” wronged in a land that is not your native land;

    If you are an orphan;

    If you are a widow (the husband you married died);

    If you are fatherless (you have no earthly father who raised you or guided you or taught you);

    GOD our Heavenly Father loves you, protects you, guides you – STUDY His Words, and find comfort in His promises.

    “19 Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.” – Curses from Mount Ebal – (Deuteronomy 27:9-26) KJV

    So do not be angry, or do not stay angry, towards your oppressors.

    They have no idea what’s coming to them.

    So just PRAY for them, so that they can have the opportunity, while still on earth, to REPENT and ask for God’s forgiveness.

    They are accountable to God and will be held accountable BY God.

    While we each will be accountable for our “reaction” towards the people who have wronged us.

    Do not allow the sin of unforgiveness, get a foothold in your heart because then the spirits of anger and bitterness will only harden your heart as a result.

    Do not become what you hate.

    Let God fight your battles, ask for His help and His deliverance.

    The way Jesus Christ taught:

    5“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

    6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

    7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

    8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

    9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

    “‘Our Father in heaven,
    Holy be Your Name,
    10 Your Kingdom come,
    Your Will be done,
        on earth as it is in heaven.
    11 Give us today our daily bread.
    12 And forgive us our debts,
        as we also have forgiven our debtors.
    13 And lead us not into temptation,
        but deliver us from the evil one.’

    14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

    15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” – Matthew 6:5-14
    Amen.

    Here’s a story of two widows: Naomi Widowed – (Ruth 1:1-5) KJV and Ruth’s Loyalty to Naomi – (Ruth 1:6-18) KJV

    The friendship between these two women is testament to how “widows”, without so much fanfare, could only know and feel what the other is going through.  It’s like automatic “compassion”.

    Grief over the loss of a spouse can take a lifetime to “recover” from.  Often, as time passes, widows just get “better at coping” over the loss of the spouse and have accepted a “new normal”.  Life will not be the same without the dead spouse, but life goes on.

      Those who died and those who died in Christ
